GIGANTOUR!

I have the most amazing job ever, with some of the most amazing clients ever! Now that I have said that, Tonight I had the privilege of shooting 4 of the most unbelievable bands currently touring. GIGANTOUR stopped by the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Center. This place is building a huge name for themselves with the talented acts they are bringing through (tonight for example)! I can tell you first hand that the staff in the office works their asses off to bring you a good night out without having to go to the city to do so!!

Lacuna Coil started the night off with a bang, followed by Volbeat. I honestly wish these 2 groups had longer sets!

I thought I had seen it all in shooting concerts, but Motorhead was next and I was getting anxious! Seeing Lemmy take stage automatically made me think to myself “I’m not worthy!”. I bet many of you reading this who know your movies thought I would have quoted that famous line from AIRHEADS “Lemmy *IS* God”. No need. We all know that . I couldn’t help but stand there and blink dumbfounded as ACE OF SPADES played out towards the end of their set.. Even as I’m writing this, I can still hear that song playing out in my head. Wait. I can! I have it blasting through my headset!

When the curtain dropped for Megadeth and Dave played his first riff, even if I was wearing ear plugs, I don’t think they would have stopped any of the screams coming from the crowd behind me! I don’t think I can even begin to describe the presence Mr Dave Mustaine has on stage! I’ll let the photos of that set do the talking for me! All I will say is Megadeth live is an act every rocker and metal-head must see! Unbelievable!

Finally, I’d like to send a shout out to Criz from Lacuna Coil. Thanks for the cigar dude! Great chattin’ with ya and safe travels.

a busy time!

Its been a while since my last updates, and there’s a good reason for that.

I have had a few amazing photoshoots with a couple very talented and beautiful ladies. Future projects have been discussed with them and planning has already started.

Dark Works has a new calendar project on the go for 2013. This will be available through the new store (coming soon) by late spring, early summer Guys, you are going to love this!!

Upcoming events I will be shooting at the AESC include MEGADETH & MOTORHEAD on February 20th (yes you read that right!!!), followed by PBR (Pacific Bull Riding) February 24th and 25th. If anyone sees me at either events, be sure to stop me and say hi!

A beautiful wedding

Yesterday I had the privilege to shoot a wedding for one of the sweetest clients I have met, and shot, to date. It wasn’t a large wedding, which made everything intimate and more relaxed. The weather outside wasn’t co-operating for photos, so I had planned ahead by packing my studio, and doing a setup in an unused ballroom there. My congratulations to the couple yet again, and I wish them happiness in their future together.

I want to personally thank the Coast Hotel for being so gracious and allowing me to use that room

Up to date

As of late, my schedule has been rather packed! Whether its shooting live shows (latest being Paul Brandt) or my latest creative shoots, I have been slacking on keeping this up to date!

The upcoming new year is already looking pretty good. Many new and amazing projects are being designed and booked, as well as some MAJOR concerts and events ( www.abbotsfordcentre.ca ). Im excited!

A portrait and thoughts

Its hard to break eye contact with him isn’t it?

The other day I had the opportunity to do a portrait of an old camera bug friend of mine, Mark. It was really a fun time sitting around chatting with a guy who still shoots with 35mm film. That’s right! 35mm FILM!

I have to say that after the shoot, I was really tempted to go home and dig out my old Pentax (yes, my first camera was a Pentax, not a Canon) and see how much I remember about bracketing! I kinda feel like the younger generation of photographers will be missing out on the experience of shooting and developing your own roll of film. Mind you, its been roughly 8 years since I’ve had the resources (or space) available to develop my own.

Disney On Ice

Tonight I had the pleasure of shooting yet another sold out show at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre ( http://www.abbotsfordcentre.ca/ ). This time it was Disney Pixar’s Toy Story. It isnt my first time shooting a Disney On Ice show at the AESC, and Im always looking forward to shooting these events in their spacious venue!

A Benedict Christmas

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of shooting my good friends, the Benedicts, christmas card. This is my favorite kind of client shoot, as both sides have some very non-tradional concepts towards this upcoming season, and they gave me full creative control Sorry folks, but there wont be any image spoilers until the cards have been printed and mailed out to families and friends… You can, however, check out their other family portrait I shot back in the summer (please see attached image).

Remember them

 
November 11th, 2011.

Rememberance Day.

 Today is a day that we take a moment of silence and remember those in the armed forces who have given their lives in both past and present conflicts. Let us also remember those brave men and women who currently serve (or have served) in our armed forces.

Now please spare a moment to pay respects to all those who have sacrificed their lives to give us the freedom so many of us take for granted.

Briefed & the Vancouver Men’s Show
